KRS to build new Nemėžis Gymnasium wing

2026-06-10

A new wing will be built at Nemėžis St. Rapolas Kalinauskas Gymnasium, which will house preschoolers, pre-primary students, and primary school pupils. This is stipulated by the agreement signed by Vilnius District Municipality with the construction company KRS. This project will significantly expand the educational infrastructure in the rapidly growing Nemėžis eldership and ensure better learning conditions for a larger number of students.

The new 3000 sq. meter wing is planned to accommodate three preschool, three pre-primary, and twelve primary education classes. The modern spaces will be adapted to contemporary educational needs and will ensure accessibility for all children, regardless of their physical abilities. This is one of the most important educational infrastructure projects in Vilnius District in recent years. It is planned that students will enter these premises by the end of 2027.

The tender won by KRS once again confirms the company's competence in implementing public purpose and educational infrastructure projects. The company will seek close cooperation with Vilnius District Municipality and the local community.

Currently, 647 students attend Nemėžis St. Rapolas Kalinauskas Gymnasium, and it is estimated that the educational institution lacks more than 200 places. Vilnius District Municipality has secured over 4 million euros in funding for the new extension construction project. The works are financed by funds from the projects "Increasing the Accessibility of Educational Services by Constructing and Equipping an Extension at Nemėžis St. Rapolas Kalinauskas Gymnasium in Vilnius District" and "Increasing the Accessibility of Preschool Education in Vilnius District Municipality".
