Construction of the new kindergarten in Pilaitė is halfway complete: a topping-out ceremony is held

Today (2026-07-03) marks a special day at the construction site of the new nursery-kindergarten rising in Vilnius' Pilaitė district, on Pajautos Street. KRS builders, who began construction of the kindergarten just half a year ago, have already completed the structural work of the building and, following an old builders' tradition, are raising a topping-out wreath above the building.

The topping-out ceremony is the only celebration for builders throughout the entire construction process

The raising of the topping-out wreath symbolizes the completion of the most important construction phase and gratitude to the entire team – it is the only celebration dedicated to the builders throughout the entire construction period. On this occasion, the entire construction site team will gather around a common table – a hearty and delicious pilaf will be cooked for lunch.

The new nursery-kindergarten in Pilaitė will accommodate 320 children

A modern municipal nursery-kindergarten is being built in the rapidly expanding Pilaitė district and will open its doors to 320 children. The U-shaped building is designed with a cozy inner courtyard, which will feature outdoor musical instruments, a terrace for events and sports, and a planted 'Christmas' fir tree will become a symbolic accent.

What will the kindergarten's grounds feature?

On the plot next to the kindergarten, the following will be installed:

• play areas and sports fields,

• an educational garden,

• group playgrounds with covered shelters,

• outdoor storage sheds and play equipment – swings, sandboxes, etc.

The project value of the kindergarten in Pilaitė is €9.4 million (including VAT). The project is being implemented for the growing community of Vilnius and future generations.
